Savior of the World

I don't think I have mentioned that I am now 'officially' involved with our Stake production of "Savior of the World". You may have heard Natalie mention her role in the production. Several weeks ago I was asked to take on the responsibility of working with the musical director for the play. He is super-talented and competent but is likely to be gone at least part of the summer and they need someone working with him now who could step in at full speed when he goes. I guess that's me.

I don't mind telling you that I was apprehensive -- I have done many, many stake plays in the past and I know exactly the kind of time and dedication they take. I am still the Primary president in my ward and that's a responsibility I take seriously and spend a fair amount of time on. So I felt excited but overwhelmed at the same time.

Today I attended my first rehearsal and I came away filled with gratitude that somehow, someone decided I should be involved. The kids are wonderful. They are dedicated and they are talented. Even at this first rehearsal, I felt the spirit as we worked through their music and lines.

I'm so, so thankful for this chance to help out with the music but more, for the opportunity to really feel the spirit of the play. I can tell you that it is something special. This will be a life-changing experience for anyone who allows it to be. Today, I was filled with the spirit, with gratitude and with humility at the privilege it was to be there. What a gift.

I know there will be days that I don't feel like dragging myself over to the church for *another* rehearsal and when that happens, I will remember the way I felt today. I suspect that when I do, there will be a smile on my face as I go back for more.

I really want to go see this. The Laurels and Priests saw it last week and loved it. I think that is great that you get to work on something so uplifting. You are the best!

Only someone as gifted as you "gets" to do these kinds of things! I was not surprised at all that they asked you. I'm so glad it's going to be a wonderful experience...I can not WAIT to see it.

Thank you for your tender thoughts, Jan. You are, as always, inspiring.

I'll be honest Jan, I am a tad (ok way more than that ;) bit jealous of you and Natalie getting to be a part of this. Specifically the part where you get to share in this experience with my baby brother (Austin). He was like 3 when I graduated HS and moved out, so I haven't gotten to spend a ton of time or really watch him grow up other than vacations and holidays. I can only imagine how much he is going to blossom and grow spiritually during this experience. From what I understand he is one of the young ones in the group so hopefully he behaves, but also it will be great for him to be around good kids who will be a good example for him. What I don't envy are those moments where you will be super busy and pulled in a million different directions. But I will be praying for all of you to be strengthened and lifted up during this production. Hopefully I can come down for a performance, if not I really really hope it is going to be video taped! (sorry for the long comment)

I love the mention of remembering how you felt. I have gone back on that quite a few times since moving here. Sounds like a great youth production!
