I love Mason's current age and phase of life. He's pretty darn cheerful most of the time and is learning by leaps and bounds. One thing he's way into right now is names. He takes great pride in his ability to tell you the names of his loved ones.
"Mason, what's Grandma's name?" "Jan!" "What about Grandpa?" "Mark!" [only it sounds like 'Mahk' -- even cuter!]. "What's Daddy's name?" "Chris!" "And Mama?" "Nat-a-wee!" "What about big sister?" "Maya!"
Every response is accompanied by the world's biggest and proudest smile. On both of us.
But my favorite name is the one he knows me by best: Grandma!!

funny comic strip. mason is too smart and cute!
That's cute. :) I love that age too!
it's cute when mason launches into the names, isn't it?
I love the "mahk". It sounds like he's from Boston.
Jan, I love your blog, it reeks of happy things!!! I wanted to say hi and glad I can check up on you.
I love that his name is Mason - very cool. And yes, your blog is very positive and inspiring!
I love that his name is Mason too, too bad my maiden name was Barnes, that just doesn't sound too cute as a first name- does it? I love it when the kids figure out that my mom is their grandma. Alice always refers to her as "your mother" she thinks she's so clever. One time David asked my mother in law, "why don't you have any kids?" she then explained that she did have two boys. He was blown away that his dad and his uncle came from his grandma.
my kids get a kick out of finding out people's "real" names too:)
