I'm Pooped!

OK, this will definitely be dubbed as over-sharing -- but for me, today is colonoscopy prep day. Yippee. You are lucky if you are too young to be dealing with this yet -- but just FYI, it's not fun. Today I've already taken a laxative overdose, later on will be required to force down some nasty liquid stuff that induces more action, and can only take in clear liquids all day. (And of course, I'm starving already -- it's only 10 a.m! Long day ahead!) After midnight, I can have NOTHING at all -- even when I brush my teeth tomorrow a.m. I've been cautioned to spit out every bit of water. These instructions are anal (hee hee -- get it?) and very specific. I guess they want a nice clean colon (is there such a thing?) to check out.

Thank goodness I report to the hospital at 5:45 a.m. It will be nothing but a not-so-fond memory by 8 and life will continue as usual. For today -- like I said, I'm pooped! But it's better than colon cancer, right?

Definitely better than cancer. But how can you be old enough for a colonoscopy? That isn't possible. I have heard they aren't fun - but worth it. Good luck!

Oh, Jan, I'm thinking of you today! Nat told us this morning what you're going through, and I just want you to know you're in my thoughts...let me know if you need any emergency cookies tomorrow afternoon!

Oh man, I'm sorry I've heard so pretty bad stories about the prep for these. Good Luck.

Oh, Hayley - you're too young to have had one of these! I had one a year ago and they had to remove a polyp -- so that's why the repeat performance now. I'm hoping for a few years off after this one!

He he. Love the 'anal' reference. My dad just had one. He said it wasn't too bad. He definitely had to stay close to the pot all day though! Wishing you a clean bill of health!

My DH has had his fair share of these- he has Crohn's disease, so they're something we're all too familiar with. Hope everything comes out ok (heehee)!

Icky, good luck with that. My parents just had it done and said the prep day was hideous. You are very responsible to get your screenings.
