I've had quite a few people ask how the surgery went -- and I thought I'd let you all know that it went well. I saw the dr. this morning and he told me that he did a lot of clean-up around the toe joint and removed quite a bit more bone than he did with the other foot. That explains the extra puffiness and bruising this time around.
I'm doing fine. I hate the crutches -- my upper body strength is just about zero and everything above my waist hurts because of it. ButI spend time with Mr. Vicodin who (along with Mark and Natalie) is taking care of everything. The down-side of the drugs is, of course, the ongoing grogginess. But even now I'm needing it less often than at first so it's all improving.
The real down-side is that I can't get the incision wet till the stitches come out -- so I am back to bathing with one leg out of the tub which isn't pretty (or efficient, really!). I keep reminding myself that it's all temporary.
I'm just grateful that I was able to get it done and that it went well. Crutches? Yuk. Big clunky shoe thingie? Yuk. But it won't last! (thank goodness!)

You poor thing. What a way to ring in 2008. I hope it heals quickly and you are bathing normally and ditching the crutches very soon.
that boot is a hot look! and you get to drive "elliptical" carts at target. it's not all bad! :)
I am glad both feet are done. Now you can just get better and not worry about it anymore. Crutches are the worst. Hopefully you can get rid of them fast. I hope you feel better soon!
I am so glad that everything went well and you can put all this nasty foot crap behind you! :)
at least you don't have another foot to operate on! i'm glad you're recovering!
I'm glad things went well. I like the boot look. I had one that went to my knee, very fashionable!
I'm totally thinking you could start a new trend with that ginormous boot. Looks great! Hope you're feeling good soon.
Wow! I am glad they got everything taken care of with your foot and now you are on your way toa quick recovery,I hope! (And hallelujah for Mr. Vicodin for after surgery!) The boot is Hot!! :)
I think the boot is sexy...didn't you know that it is the hot new look in 08. I am glad that you are recovery well. Our thoughts and prayers have been with you. Love you!
I'm glad the surgery went well and hope that you recover quickly. There is nothing worse than being on crutches (I'm a 2x knee surgery survivor, so I can empathize). Get well soon!
Glad to hear that it went well! It was probably a good idea to do it during the holidays--lots of family help.
I am so glad your surgery is over with and that it went well...you've pretty much convinced me to put mine off for as long as possible!!!
