Still Here

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." ~Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Life has been busy and I don't mind admitting that I've felt a bit overwhelmed and maybe even a little bit discouraged lately. Primary is great -- but my 1st counselor Kristi just had a baby [yay!!] which is a happy thing, but with her torn muscle issues that came before the baby did, it has been a while since we've seen her and with a new baby in her life, it will be another while before she's back at Primary. Natalie, my 2nd counselor, just discovered that she is expecting #5 [gulp! -- she's superwoman!] and is sick, sick, sick. Candice, my secretary, messed up her back a while ago and is still dealing with that. So, Primary is mine. All mine. At least for a while. And I can do it - -but I miss my girls!

I'm still teaching the adult Institute-ish class on the Book of Mormon, and the prep for that has swallowed me whole. I love it and I really enjoy the study and prep, but it is hugely time-consuming if I want to do it right. And I do.

Then, yesterday morning, I had 2 dental implants placed and I can already tell that soreness is going to be an issue for a while. [I'm thankful that I got to sleep through the actual procedure!] It's nothing I can't handle and/or deal with, but it's definitely going to take some time to heal. And then, once the healing has happened, we move onto step 2. Sigh. More fun. But in the long run, it will all be good. I know it will.

So, instead of feeling sorry for myself and wishing things were different, I need to adjust my attitude and just do the best I can. As Archbishop Tutu says, my little bit of good, along with everyone else's, can overwhelm the world.

So I'm working on doing at least a little bit of good!

I hope that you start feeling better--anything even closely related to surgery isn't fun.

you are just way too good Jan. I miss you and wish you were coming out here!
Honestly, Satan is working his tail off to freak us all out and overwhelm the best of us! :) It is an epidemic.
I love you. I understand, and it will get better.

So many appreciate your efforts! It does make a difference. I especially liked when you said you could just prepare, but you really wanted to do it right. That is so admirable. Love you, hope for sunnier days soon.

I agree with Holly, you don't need another thing on your list, but I would sure love to know if Kristi had a boy or a girl! You are loved and it is tough when there seems to be more things to do than time to do them. Hang in there.

You can do it! I'm sure this rough patch is just a fraction of what you are capable of!

Holy cow! Okay...maybe it's because I'm in the primary presidency in our ward, but I'm going to have to say you can't do it all. That's crazy! You need to get some help. Maybe the stake primary presidency can help or get subs or something. Anything. That's too much on your plate.

Okay...so what did Kirsti have?? And what are these torn muscle issues? I'm very interested because I torn my muscles also.

Wow, you have been busy! You are amazing! You are such an example to me. All that preparing you do to teach truly pays off. You are an incredible teacher. Hope your load gets lighter soon.

You're amazing! Any of those issues alone would be difficult enough. But put them all together and I can see why you're overwhelmed. But if anyone can deal with it, it's you. Thanks for all you do!

You easily overwhelm the world with all you do, Jan. I can't tell you how much I love you and appreciate you. Hang in there, things will be back to "normal" before you know it! I miss you, too.

I saw your status on the sore mouth... I had a tooth pulled this week, and a sore mouth makes life miserable! It's comforting somehow that you're going through the same thing :)

I need to take a trip to Austin and come to one of your classes - I have no doubt you're awesome!!!!!!!
