What I Learned

Oh, how I loved General Conference. My favorite? [could I really pick just one?] Well, I think it would have to be Pres. Monson's Sunday morning address when he talked about loving people and letting them know it. As I listened to his words, I realized that there are way too many occasions when I do appreciate something or someone, I do have those loving feelings and thoughts in my mind and heart, but never articulate them. I am going to do better because I know from experience how much it means to have someone let you know the feelings of their heart.

Mother Teresa said it this way: "Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor... let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting." She really knew how to get to the heart of things, didn't she?

Now I am impatient for the church to get the talks online so that I can re-read and re-think about many of them.

Combine a wonderful General Conference with some family time, a good soccer game, and a sweet husband who remembered family tradition and brought home not only donuts but ice cream as well after the General Priesthood meeting -- and it doesn't get much better than that.

Love that Mother Teresa quote. Makes me wonder if she's been converted on the other side yet. :) She had such a good heart and was such a good influence on so many people.

I also enjoyed conference. I liked the Unity talk, and of course, Elder Uchdorf's talk. He seems to "get me" (granted, I think he's talking ONLY to me sometimes). :) Good stuff for sure! (And you can't go wrong with Ice Cream and Donuts after either!)

Oh my gosh I loved his talk! I was crying when he talked about the kids' toys and how it will come so fast for them to leave home!

his talk was awesome, i agree! i agree with the melissa who commented above me-the part where he talked about children's fingerprints, toys, and laundry made me get teary-eyed.

This was my favorite talk too... talk about a tear jerker. I loved the message of living TODAY, loving people TODAY. It felt to me like a bit of a throw back to GBH (with all his talk about being a little better, being happy), only from a different angle. Good stuff.

That was a good one (and a tear jerker!) for sure.

My favorite was Holland's talk on Saturday. He talked about Angels and told a story that had me flat out balling. It was amazing.

Love General Conference...such a cup filler upper.

That is fabulous. I loved that talk to and I love that quote fro M.T.. That is the essence of what I always want to do but have a hard time doing. A book called The Peacegiver taught me a good lesson about that. Have you read it? I want to leave everyone i encounter better than i met them, especially my angel kids. THANKS for sharing!
