We Need Each Other

"It well may be that we will never meet again in this lifetime,
So let me say before we part,

So much of me is made of what I learned from you,
You'll be with me like a handprint on my heart;
And now whatever way our stories end,
I know you have re-written mine by being my friend:

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better.
And because I knew you, because I knew you,
Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."

As I sat in church today, my feelings were tender and full of gratitude for the loving relationships I am blessed with. My thoughts took me to (of course!) a song -- "For Good", from the musical Wicked. I can't say it any better than this.

Because of loving friends, I have been changed for good. And I have the handprints on my heart to prove it. Thank you!

This is one of my favorite songs EVER. When I die I want Tara to sing it at my funeral...I know, morbid thought! But I love the words, this one's a keeper.

Not a morbid thought, I don't think. I love that thought - -what a great end to a life well lived. And another thing -- can i link you to my blog? Love your thoughts.

Great post, Jan. I've been blessed with some amazing people in my life, too. I'm a little late on the Wicked craze, I need to go see this much raved about show- especially with songs like that!

Jan, how funny cause I was going to ask you the same thing...I want easier access to your blog (love it)! I have seen Wicked three times now, twice in New York and then just recently in London. It is one of my all time favorites!
